BATTALION WEST RIDING REGIMENT (ILKLEY PALS). KILLED IN ACTION 2ND MARCH 1916.
Thomas Morton Healey was the second Ilkley Pal to die on the 2nd March
1916 during the shelling that had also killed Farrel Dixon. He was badly
wounded and transferred to the nearby 52nd Field Ambulance where he succumbed
to his wounds. Before the war Thomas had lived with his parents, the licensees
of the Station Hotel. Thomas was an electrician and keen footballer with Ilkley
AFC and probably enlisted with his team mates like James Lund. He is buried in
Bedford House Military Cemetery and remembered on Ilkley War Memorial
